This is not 3D rendering (very different).
I'm talking about people who remove backgrounds and whatnot.
When it comes to a picture you found on DA, do you ask the original artist? No, this isn't about pointing fingers or anything like that. I'm not going to report anyone. It's just something I've been wondering about lately.
I have found many of my renders from different sites.
I would like to assume that all were done with the artist's permission at one point or another. ( And perhaps that is silly on my part ).
I recently used a
Korra fanart from
an artist on DA and I sent him a note asking for permission. I agreed not to upload it to my DA account and of course if I were to render it, to not redistribute it to anyone or upload it to any sites. The only thing he required was credit which he did receive and I even sent him a screenshot from the site I was using it on to prove that he was being credited.
If you do not ask, why don't you?
I have found that some pictures I would love to use from artists are no longer active. As in, the emails they have on their DA do not work or they have not logged on in over a year or two.
I wonder if people discuss these things when they ask for permission:
"Can I use it?" ( Obvious )
"May I distribute the render to members on DA or on a website?"
etc.
Again, I'm not talking about Pixiv or anything like that. I'm referring directly to DA. That's all. If you do not feel comfortable responding here, you can send your response in a note.
I don't want flaming or anything. Let's keep it cool and open.
